Depot Park is located in the 200 block of East Main Street in downtown Ardmore. The future park site is overflowing with history, which helped guide the creation of a truly unique park design. The historic Mercy Train will sit at the corner of the park serving as an entry monument and focal point welcoming visitors into the park. The adjacent train depot and historic depot building helped influence the industrial theme for the park. A shipping container will be transformed into a monument sign to welcome visitors to the site. Corten steel signs along historic Caddo Street will tell of Ardmore’s exciting past. Swinging benches with I-beams structures will give an industrial look to the park while giving park goers a place to relax and take in sights. Wide open green spaces will provide flexible gathering areas for kite flying, festivals, and outdoor concerts. The master plan created for the Main Street Authority will serve as a platform to generate excitement and the necessary funding to complete the construction of Depot Park.
LPCI prepared a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant proposal for Ardmore Main Street Authority which helped secure $600,000 in federal funds for a $1.5 million dollar project.
