In 1998, INCOG and the City of Tulsa
retained LandPlan Consultants, Inc.
to provide conceptual design of
approximately 16 miles of multiuse
trail along US 169 and Mingo Creek
within the City of Tulsa. Eventually
the trail will link the existing
Creek Turnpike Trail at 96th Street
and Memorial Drive to Mohawk Park to
the north. Phase I begins at the
City of Tulsa Nelson Detention Site
(E. 26th Street South) and runs
along the west side of Mingo Creek.
The trail ends just south of 11th
Street, adjacent to South 93rd
Avenue. Phase I is 1.75 miles long.
Phases II and III of the Mingo
Creek Trail extend South from the
Nelson Detention Site (East 26th
Street South) for over 2 miles. The
trail follows Mingo Creek as it
travels along Mingo Road and 31st
Street south to 41st Street. The
trail terminates at 41st Street
adjacent to US 169. Mingo Creek
Trail connects several neighborhood
subdivisions to Hicks Park, a City
park with active and passive
recreation areas and a community
center. In addition, three
parks/detention sites, along the
main stem, are linked with the
construction of this trail.
Grade separated crossings to
separate trail user from automobile
at roadway crossings have been
provided at all possible locations
to provide increased safety.
