The Fort Smith Trails and Greenways
Master Plan offers recommendations
for improving community access to
outdoor resources by identifying and
preserving greenway corridors and
building a network of off-road
multi-purpose paved trails. LandPlan
worked very closely with the Fort
Smith Trails and Greenways Advisory
Committee in preparing this master
plan. LandPlan also conducted public
workshops, public meetings, and
worked very closely with Fort Smith
to ensure the proposed
trail/greenway system enhances the
quality of life for city residents.
This Plan recommends the
implementation of a 87.59 mile
network of off-road multi-purpose
trails throughout City of Fort
Smith. The plan addresses policies,
programs, and physical improvements
that should be implemented to
improve access to recreation
resources and improve transportation
efficiency throughout the
community.
The trails master plan identifies
22 corridors throughout the City of
Fort Smith and calls for the
implementation of a 87.59 mile
network of off-road multi-purpose
trails throughout the city. The
system is extensive and
comprehensive, and at the same time
provides a realistic program for
satisfying the needs of local
residents regarding access to
outdoor resources and linkage to
popular destinations.
