Offering a vast array of restaurants
and bars, retail businesses, banks,
churches, and the Walton Art Center,
Dickson Street has been a popular
destination for Fayetteville's
residents and college students
throughout the years. With so much
to offer, Dickson Street needed a
face-lift that would define its
boundaries and convey a unified
character along its entire 3000'
length.
New ADA accessible concrete
sidewalks with brick accent strips
behind the curb have created a
strong continuity along the Dickson
Street corridor.
Brick pavers have also been used
at all other major intersections as
well as in the crosswalks throughout
the district. This has helped to
calm traffic, which is imperative
for the safety of the great number
of pedestrians frequenting this
district.
Other amenities include planters
with seat walls at the
intersections, planting areas, light
posts with attractive teardrop
fixtures and banner connections,
site furniture including benches,
litter receptacles informational
kiosks, and bike racks. In addition,
street trees and shrub plantings are
placed at highly visible locations
along Dickson Street.
