Collinsville’s City Park is
currently a passive space, filled
with large, stately trees. The City
hired LandPlan Consultants to
provide a park master plan which
would add active amenities, while
retaining as many of the trees as
possible. Several public workshops
were held to garner community input
and support.
Several of the Collinsville’s
top goals for their park master plan
were to protect the historic
structures and provide for easy
operations and management. Three of
the most suggested amenities during
the public workshop include
replacing the community building,
adding walking trails, and adding a
small lake with fishing dock. Other
improvements include building an
improved kiddy land, new restrooms,
a Frisbee golf course, sand
Volleyball, an amphitheater with
seating, an improved stage area, a
skate park, a new park entry sign,
as well as additional parking.
The Client also requested a
community swimming pool with
zero-entry. The pool was to have
modern amenities such as: changing
rooms, concessions, kiddy pool, a
flume slide/drop slide, swim lanes,
and a large deck area.
